Ranch Hand's Encounter with Mysterious Creatures in Shoshone National Forest

A ranch hand in Northwest Wyoming had a disturbing encounter while exploring the Shoshone National Forest in 2002. Matt, a 26-year-old who worked at a local bar, was offered a job and free rent at a nearby ranch by Mandy, a woman who needed help after her husband passed away. One day, Matt decided to go for a hike and explore the area. As he ventured deeper into the forest, he stumbled upon a valley with tightly packed stands of trees. In the middle of this valley, he noticed several dome-shaped structures made of tree branches, moss, and mud. They were large enough for two or three people to stand up inside. Matt felt an odd feeling that he shouldn't be there and decided to leave. As he was walking back, he felt like he was being watched. Suddenly, a large bull elk with blood on its neck and skin ripped off its back hindquarter appeared in front of him. Matt observed as the elk slowly limped along, followed by two shapes that appeared to be large apes walking on their knuckles and hind feet. Matt was in total fear as he watched the scene unfold. He didn't feel like he could just turn and bolt, as he feared the creatures would pursue him. One of the apes stood up and Matt could see that it was seven or eight feet tall. He felt like they were displeased with him for witnessing something he wasn't meant to see. Matt slowly backed up towards the forest, but the large ape took a quick step towards him. He continued to back up until he could turn and run, hoping to get some cover and escape. As he was running, he heard a loud deep growl, similar to an elk call, but deeper and louder. Matt made it back to the ranch house and decided to wait out the night. The next morning, he told Mandy that he couldn't live there anymore and offered to help her during the day, but he couldn't stay on the property.
