Mysterious Mothman Sightings: Winged Wonders of Point Pleasant & Killeen

In a recent live chat and Q&A session, host Lon Strickler discussed reports of winged phenomena and the life-changing encounters that witnesses have had with these beings. One such encounter took place near Point Pleasant, West Virginia, where a woman named Megan and her friend Kira had a sighting of a large, bird-like creature with a wide wingspan and shiny, leather-like skin. The creature was difficult to see, but when it swooped down in the parking lot lights, Megan and Kira were able to get a better look. They described it as having a wingspan of eight to ten feet and flying above a nearby Walmart. After their initial sighting, Kira heard scratching sounds outside her hotel room window and saw a "bald, ugly man with wings" looking directly at her with large, bulging eyes that lit up bright red. The creature was in a parking lot outside their hotel and spread its wings before lifting off the ground like a bird. Megan and Kira were both shaken by the encounter and quickly left the area the next morning. Megan later wrote to Phantoms & Monsters Radio to share her story and ask if it was possible that they had encountered the Mothman, a legendary creature said to haunt the area around Point Pleasant. In another report, a military wife in Killeen, Texas, described her encounter with an apparent Mothman in her bedroom. She saw a black figure standing at the bottom of her bed, with huge black wings and red eyes. The creature moved closer to her, causing her to freeze in fear. She later learned about the Mothman and realized that what she had seen was similar to the creature's description.
