Retired Navajo Ranger Jonathan Redbird Dover recently shared his fascinating experiences as a law enforcement officer and paranormal investigator on the Sasquatch Odyssey Podcast. Dover, who was hired as a Navajo Ranger after stating he would "cut their ears off at 300 yards with a 300 Savage," had a varied career with the Rangers, including attending the six-month Police Academy in Window Rock, working with the National Park Service, and becoming a patrol officer and patrol sergeant for the Winslow Arizona Police Department. After leaving the Winslow Police Department, Dover returned to the Navajo Rangers and eventually became a specialist in archaeological law enforcement investigations. He also became an instructor in Mountain Rescue and high angle technical rescue, a licensed EMT basic, a federal firearms instructor, and an adjunct instructor at gunsight Academy. As a Navajo Ranger, Dover was responsible for enforcing Game and Fish, forestry, mines and minerals, Water Resources, and park area laws. He also conducted search and rescue missions and was trained in Wildland firefighting and explosives handling. Dover and his partner Stan were considered the "Prototype Rangers" due to their extensive training in various areas. Dover's involvement in paranormal investigations began when a couple in the Carrizo Mountains reported a Bigfoot stepping over their wooden log Corral, grabbing a sheep, and walking off with it. The two officers assigned to the case were rookies who were giggling and laughing during the investigation, causing the elderly couple to believe they were being laughed at. The couple complained to the chief Ranger, who then assigned Dover and Stan to investigate all paranormal cases seriously and professionally. Dover's and Stan's investigations into paranormal cases, including Bigfoot sightings, were taken seriously and conducted professionally. Their experiences as Navajo Rangers and law enforcement officers made them well-suited to handle these types of investigations.
