In a recent video from the Untold Radio Network, hosts Dr. Russ Jones and Brad Kennan sit down with Darby Orcutt, a professor of Science and Technology at North Carolina State University, to discuss his upcoming DNA study on cryptids. Darby, who was originally supposed to meet up with Dr. Jones in the woods to search for evidence of Bigfoot, was unable to due to the pandemic. However, the two have kept in touch and Darby has been working on a project to analyze unusual physical samples that have been found and may not match those of known animals. When asked about the possibility of contamination in the samples, Darby explains that it is a common issue, but they will be looking at the samples in a way that has not been done before in a credible, peer-reviewed manner. He is specifically interested in hair samples and hand prints, or skin surface lipids (SSLS), that have been found and have unusual features. Darby and his team are not looking to prove anything in particular with this study, but rather to determine what these unusual samples are. He encourages anyone with physical samples they find interesting to reach out and submit them for analysis. As Dr. Jones and Brad Kennan mention in the video, the study of Bigfoot and other cryptids is often met with skepticism and disbelief. However, they stress the importance of keeping an open mind and considering all possibilities. If you have any unusual physical samples that you would like to submit for analysis in Darby's study, you can reach out to him through the Untold Radio Network. You can also watch the full video on their YouTube channel for more information on the study and to hear more from Darby about his work in the field of cryptozoology.
