Friends Encounter 7.5-ft Tall Bigfoot with Red Eyes in Remote Nassau County, Florida

Two friends had rented a boat for a fishing trip up the St. Mary's River, starting at Scott's Landing and traveling about 15 miles west. As they navigated the river, they accidentally hit something with their motor, causing it to shut off. They drifted to the Georgia side of the river, where they spent hours trying to restart the engine. By the time they were successful, it was already 3:30 PM, and the sun was setting around 6 PM. With nightfall approaching, they decided to find a place to camp for the night. They spotted an abandoned fish camp downriver and decided to pull over and set up camp. As they sat by the fire, they began hearing strange noises in the woods around 2:30 AM. The sounds of breaking branches, snapping twigs, and crushing leaves grew louder as something moved closer to their campsite. Eventually, they heard grunting and growling from the riverbank across from them, accompanied by a deep, bass thud as the creature stomped its feet. One of the friends approached the river's edge with a flashlight, shining it towards the opposite bank. He saw the creature moving and then stepping out into the open, where it stared at him. The witness described the creature's eyes as red when the flashlight hit them. He also mentioned its broad shoulders, cone-shaped head, and a height of around seven and a half feet. The creature walked like a man but was visibly larger and more muscular. Understandably, the men were frightened and did not sleep that night. The following morning, they paddled five miles upriver towards their car. A police boat spotted them and towed them back to Scott's Landing. Despite his friend's terror, one of the witnesses was so intrigued by the encounter that he wanted to return to the area to search for the creature. This fascinating story takes place in a remote area along the Florida-Georgia border, near the Okefenokee National Wildlife Area. While there are some houses nearby, they are remote and scattered.
