Drag racing on a warm summer night in Modesto, California in the 1960s takes a frightening turn when a group of friends hears a chilling scream in the woods. The witness, who prefers to remain anonymous, recounts the tale in an email to the Dixie Cryptid YouTube channel. The group of friends, including the witness, her boyfriend Dan, his twin brother Donnie, and their respective girlfriends, were cruising the streets of Modesto in Dan's 1955 Chevy when they decided to take a detour into the heavily forested mountains.
After stopping in Sonora for burgers, they continued their journey, talking, drinking, and enjoying each other's company. However, they didn't realize how deep into the mountains they had traveled until they heard a blood-curdling scream that sent chills down their spines. The men, all over six feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, had gone into the woods to relieve themselves when they heard the scream. They came running back to the car like "a bunch of frightened mice," as the witness describes.
The witness believes that the scream came from a Bigfoot, which she thinks was marking its territory. The group didn't stick around to find out, quickly getting back on the highway and heading back to the safety of Modesto.
In another email, a witness from north Alabama shares a story from their childhood. The witness and their family lived on a small farm surrounded by woods, creeks, and pastures. The family spent a lot of time outdoors, and one day, the witness and their siblings decided to take a blanket ride on their pony to a wooded area near a creek.
As they approached the entrance of the woods, the pony suddenly stopped, snorted, and pawed at the ground. The witness looked ahead and saw what appeared to be a pair of red eyes moving quickly through the foliage. The pony became increasingly agitated, and the witness and their siblings decided to turn back and head home.
The witness had never heard of Bigfoot at the time but couldn't shake the feeling that they had seen something unusual. Each time they returned to the farm and looked towards the woods, they felt like they were surrounded by dozens of red, piercing eyes.
The Dixie Cryptid, the YouTube channel where these stories were shared, is known for curating and investigating paranormal and cryptid sightings. The channel's host, who remains anonymous, shares stories sent in by witnesses and offers their thoughts and opinions on the validity of each account.
These stories are just two of many that have been shared on the Dixie Cryptid YouTube channel. They serve as a reminder that the world is full of mysteries and unexplained phenomena, waiting to be discovered. So, the next time you're out on a late-night drive or exploring the woods, keep your eyes and ears open – you never know what you might encounter.
