Ohio Man's 1982 Bigfoot Encounter Ignites Lifelong Research Passion

It was 1982, and John, who was 17 years old at the time, was on a hunting trip with his friend's father and uncle on their property near the Great Dismal Swamp. John was dropped off in a deer stand early in the morning, and as he waited, he suddenly experienced a horrible smell, unlike anything he had ever encountered before. The smell made him dizzy and sick to his stomach, but it didn't last long. Soon after, he heard noises in the brush, and a Bigfoot creature stepped out, eating mulberries just 30 yards away from him. John describes the creature as having a muscular build, dark brown fur, a little crest running up the back of its head, a big brow ridge, and a flat nose. He also noticed that the creature had white teeth, similar to human teeth but bigger. John watched the Bigfoot for about five minutes as it ate the berries and moved through the woods. After his encounter, John didn't go back into the woods until 2008, when he started getting involved in Bigfoot research with his friend Billy Willard. He eventually met his wife at a Bigfoot conference, who also had an encounter with a Bigfoot creature when she was a teenager.
