In a recent episode of the Bigfoot Society podcast, host Jeremiah Byron interviewed author Leah Fisher, who writes humorous adventure novels for 8 to 12 year olds centered around cryptozoology. During the interview, Fisher discussed her duology, which includes "The Cryptid Catcher" and "The Cryptid Keeper," as well as her own personal journey into the world of cryptozoology. Fisher's introduction to cryptozoology came through an unlikely source: actor Charlie Sheen. In an article she read, Sheen had organized a hunting party to go to Alaska to find the "otter man." Intrigued, Fisher began researching the otter man and discovered the world of cryptozoology. She was hooked and knew she had to write about it. Fisher's books feature many of the cryptids from her presentations, including the blue tiger. She has even had the opportunity to meet and learn from Lauren Coleman, one of the leading figures in the field of cryptozoology. Through Coleman, Fisher learned the importance of legends and tales in the search for these elusive creatures. During the interview, Fisher also discussed her experience attending the International Cryptozoology Conference and the fascinating stories and research she encountered there. From sea serpent sightings to encounters with Bigfoot, Fisher is clearly passionate about the field of cryptozoology.
