Bigfoot enthusiasts and researchers, get ready for an exciting new event in Belmont County, Ohio! The tourism board has announced the Bigfoot Geo Tour, a scavenger hunt that combines the thrill of the search for Bigfoot with the popular activity of geocaching.
Jim Thompson, an investigator for the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, will be involved in the event. Thompson has had his own Bigfoot encounter back in 2014, which solidified his belief in the creature's existence. He became interested in Bigfoot after watching the show "Finding Bigfoot" and had his own sighting during a night investigation in Bethesda.
Starting on September 30th, there will be 20 Bigfoot-themed caches hidden across Belmont County for geocachers to find and track. The first 40 people to find all 20 caches and bring in their passports with the codes will receive a trackable gold coin. Everyone after will receive a black coin.
The kickoff event for the Bigfoot Geo Tour will be held on September 29th, with a pre-launch Bigfoot bash at Bark Camp. There, Sons will give a presentation on the creature. Whether you're hoping to find Bigfoot or just enjoy being in the woods, this event is a great opportunity to get out and explore the beautiful Belmont County.
While it's unlikely that participants will actually find Bigfoot, they will find Bigfoot-themed items in the caches. This is a fantastic idea for getting people out into the woods and enjoying nature, all while searching for clues about the elusive creature.
