In a recent video from The Caravan of Lore YouTube channel, Mel Skahan, a member of the Yakima Nation and Sasquatch guide who was interviewed on the TV series Expedition Bigfoot, shares his personal experiences and insights about Sasquatch. Mel grew up hearing stories about Sasquatch from his great-grandparents, who would take him and his siblings into the woods for the summer. Although he initially thought his great-grandfather was just telling stories to comfort the children, his perspective changed when he had his first encounter with Sasquatch at the age of 25 or 26. While working alone in a thick logical pine stand in a creek, Mel heard a low rumble growl that he initially thought was a bear. However, the sound continued to follow him for several hours, even as he changed directions to return to his work truck. When he finally heard a tree being pushed down several times, he decided it was time to leave. Despite this initial frightening encounter, Mel continued to work in the woods and eventually felt called to face his fears and learn more about Sasquatch. He explains that there are two camps when it comes to Sasquatch: those who believe it is a hominid or regular animal, and those who believe it is a spiritual being with powerful medicine. Mel falls into the latter camp, believing that Sasquatch has the ability to communicate with people who have special abilities, similar to mediums and psychics. He emphasizes that Sasquatch should not be dismissed as just "woo" or a myth, but rather respected as a spiritual being with its own form of communication. Overall, Mel's personal experiences and insights provide a unique perspective on Sasquatch and its place in the spiritual world.
