He and his friends heard rocks being thrown at them and were yelled at from the woods. John knew that the trajectory of the rocks and acorns indicated that they were being deliberately thrown at them. Although he never felt endangered, John realized that whatever was in the woods didn't want him there. John's most memorable encounter with Bigfoot occurred during his honeymoon with his wife. While on vacation in Yellowstone, they saw a white Bigfoot from a distance. Later, during a camping trip at the base of Mount Hood, they saw another Bigfoot about 60 yards away, looking at them through a fork in the trees. John's grandfather, who had grown up in the area, was well aware of the presence of Bigfoot in the region. He had even introduced John to the term "booger" as a child. According to John, encounters with Bigfoot are relatively common in the area where his grandfather lived.
