Dogman Sightings Surge Across Great Lakes Region in July Episode

So I was scrolling through YouTube the other night and stumbled across a live stream from the Adventures with Gypsy and Vanilla channel that had me completely hooked from the first minute. They're dedicating the entire month of July to Dogman, and honestly, the timing couldn't be more perfect because sightings in the Great Lakes region are reportedly skyrocketing right now.
The host kicked things off by laying out exactly how Dogman differs from Sasquatch, and let me tell you, the distinctions are wild. While our beloved Sasquatch is a hominid primate with those classic ape-like features, flat humanlike faces, heavy brow ridges, no visible neck, and a pointed ridge on top of the skull, Dogman is something else entirely. Think canine humanoid hybrid with an elongated wolf muzzle, pointed ears sitting high on the head, sharp fangs, and digitigrade legs, meaning that backward-bending knee structure you'd see on a dog's hind legs. Witnesses describe wide muscular shoulders tapering down to a narrow waist with long arms ending in powerful claws.
The movement patterns are completely different too. Sasquatch is an obligate biped, walking upright with that heavy, fluid swinging gait everyone knows. Dogman is a facultative biped, comfortable moving on all fours but capable of standing, running, and stalking on two legs. The footprints tell their own story. Dogman tracks feature claw marks, a distinct heel pad, and canine pad structure. Sasquatch prints are massive, flat, humanlike, five-toed, ranging from 14 to 20 inches, with no claw marks.
But here's where things get really interesting, the behavioral differences. Sasquatch encounters typically paint them as elusive, highly intelligent, deeply protective of their territory. Defensive behaviors include tree knocking, rock throwing, and those deep vocal roars or whistles. Witnesses often feel they're being watched, sized up, or warned away. Dogman encounters? Completely different vibe. Reports lean heavily into intense dread, a profound feeling of unnatural fear, sometimes described as a primal panic response before witnesses even lay eyes on the creature. Behavior is openly aggressive, punctuated by terrifying snarls, bared fangs, and that predatory stare that locks onto you.
The host mentioned something that gave me chills. They said even going into this research, they felt darkness around them, describing it as a spiritual battle since starting the Dogman investigation. They warned viewers to put their armor on because Dogman is something beyond what Sasquatch is. Heavy stuff.
Now, the historical segment was absolutely fascinating. The Werewolf of Defiance, Ohio, summer of 1972. This is the absolute bedrock of Ohio Dogman history, and it happened right in Defiance County, so this hits close to home for anyone in that region. Over a wild two-week stretch in late July and early August of 1972, multiple police officers were involved in encounters that remain one of the most bizarre and heavily documented cases in the Midwest. The first encounter was July 25th, when a Norfolk and Western Railroad worker named Ted Davis was coupling train cars late at night near the local tracks. He heard a noise, looked down, and saw two massive hairy animal-like paws on the ground. Looking up, he faced a six to seven foot tall bipedal creature with distinct wolflike facial features, heavily hunched over. In a bizarre twist that became legendary in the case, the creature was holding a large piece of scrap wood, described as a 2x4. The beast struck Davis on the shoulder with the board and bolted into the thick brush.
Here's something the host pointed out that really got my attention. These cycles are said to go every seven years. This happened in 1972. Do the math on when this cycle is supposed to repeat. If that pattern holds, we're right in the window.
The host also mentioned that Dogman sightings are up tremendously right now, with hundreds of reports in Michigan and Ohio alone. The DNR is reportedly starting timberwolf studies to see if timberwolves are moving back into the area because so many people are calling about these giant wolves terrorizing them. They referenced a prediction that the Dogman phenomenon is supposed to hit full bore in 2027, but it's already starting.
There's also a mention of the Ohio Grassman, which is a regional variant of Sasquatch known for shaggier, tangled hair resembling wild grass or brush, and frequently reported building complex woven structures out of tall grass and branches. Those intricate little nests have been spotted all over Ohio.
The host touched on some other interesting developments too. Snake, a popular social media personality, apparently found a Bigfoot in the woods and had it DNA tested. The results came back as "Nathaniel man and human," which apparently are two different things that combined create Bigfoot. That's definitely worth looking into.
If you're into Dogman lore, Great Lakes cryptid activity, or just want to hear about the Werewolf of Defiance case in detail, this stream is absolutely worth checking out. The host plays an original song at the end too, which sounds like it has some serious atmosphere. You can find it over on the Adventures with Gypsy and Vanilla channel. Trust me, stay squatchy out there, but maybe keep an eye out for more than just Sasquatch this month.
