There's a fascinating episode floating around YouTube right now that's got the paranormal community buzzing, and it's one every Bigfoot researcher needs to hear. The Cryptid Profiler recently hosted Mark Childers, the guy behind the Cryptid Crew Podcast, and the conversation gets into some seriously compelling territory involving a vocalization recording from rural Alabama that was analyzed by a well-known researcher in the field.
The story centers around family land in east-central Alabama, about 20 miles from the Chattahoochee River and just north of a town called Opelika in Lee County. The property has been in Mark's family for at least 40 years, and it's exactly the kind of terrain that makes sense for a Sasquatch to call home. We're talking creeks running through it, dense wooded areas, farmland nearby, and tons of wildlife. If you're looking for a spot with a solid food source and plenty of cover, this place checks every box.
Here's where it gets really interesting. Mark's neighbor, who had been living on the leased property for about two or three years, couldn't sleep one night and stepped out onto his front porch around 2:00 a.m. He heard something that caught his attention, a howl or whoop, and went back inside to grab his phone to record it. What he captured is pretty remarkable. You can hear him opening the front door and walking across the wooden deck as he starts recording. About 15 seconds in, there's a distinct wood knock. Then, as the recording continues, two different vocalization tones emerge, almost simultaneously, suggesting two separate creatures were present. Mark's neighbor estimated one was about 50 yards away and the other possibly another 50 yards beyond that.
Now, here's the part that really validates this recording. Mark took the audio to R. Scott Nelson, a name anyone familiar with Sasquatch research should recognize. Nelson is known for his analytical work in the field and has been involved with events like the Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival. After corresponding for about five or six months and analyzing the cleaned-up version of the recording, Nelson came back with a conclusion that should make any researcher pay attention. He stated it was no known forest creature and saw no signs of fakery or embellishment. When you talk to the witness himself, his demeanor and emotions tell the rest of the story. This wasn't someone looking for attention. This was a guy who heard something that genuinely rattled him.
Lee County, Alabama, isn't exactly a hotbed of mainstream Sasquatch coverage, but that doesn't mean activity hasn't been reported there. Mark mentioned he's working on getting an interview with another witness in the same county, a woman who reportedly saw a Bigfoot back in the 1970s or early 1980s that had been killing livestock, chickens, and small animals on her property. That kind of historical activity in the region adds another layer to the story. And for those familiar with Southern Sasquatch lore, the mention of the Alabama White Giant, sometimes called the White Booger, also came up during the conversation. Alabama has its own rich tradition of these encounters, and it's worth diving into if you haven't already.
The episode also touches on something else entirely. Mark and some companions apparently filmed a strange orange light that appeared out of nowhere, and Danno mentions having the footage to share during the show. That kind of unexplained aerial phenomenon paired with a credible vocalization recording makes for a compelling combination.
The recording itself was captured in the fall of 2023, so it's relatively recent, and the fact that it was taken seriously by someone with Nelson's background gives it real weight. The terrain, the timing, the two distinct vocalizations, the wood knock response, all of it adds up to something that deserves a closer look.
If any of this piques your curiosity, definitely check out the full episode. It's the kind of content that reminds you why so many people keep searching, keep listening, and keep hoping for that next piece of evidence that brings us closer to understanding what's out there in those woods.
