So there's this episode over on The Cryptid Profiler channel that dropped recently, and honestly, it's one of those interviews that sticks with you. Host Dano sits down with a guy named Jay out of the Adirondacks in northern New York, and Jay has been having run-ins with Sasquatch for roughly 20 years. Twenty years. Let that sink in for a second. What makes this one stand out is that Jay isn't just some random witness. He's also a director with the International Dogman Project and co-hosts a podcast called "On the Trail in Search of Living" with Nick Balinty, the founder of that project. So when he talks about what he's seen in those woods, there's a certain weight to it. The encounter that really grabbed me was his first one, back during muzzleloader season. Jay was after a big 10-point buck on family property, parked his truck, and hiked about a mile to his tree stand. He'd been sitting there maybe an hour when something just felt off. Then he heard it — an "ungodly moan" he couldn't place. And this is a guy who grew up in the woods, knows animal sounds, survivalist background, the whole deal. Whatever this was, it didn't match anything in his catalog. He decided to get out of there. Smart move. As he's heading back down the trail at dusk, he passes his father's old log skidder from probably the 1950s, and a head pops out from behind it. Amber eyes. About 50 or 60 feet away. The shape of the head wasn't conical like a human's, but it wasn't quite human either — somewhere in between. Jay knew right away this wasn't a person playing a prank. Then things get wild. The thing pops back, then pops out again from about 30 feet away, wrapping its arm around the front of the skidder. Jay describes it as a juvenile, no taller than five feet. And here's where it gets really interesting — what it did next. There was a log laying on the ground about 10 or 12 feet from the skidder, and another fallen tree another 10 feet past that. This creature flew out from behind the skidder, hit the first log, and propelled itself off the front of its feet. No squatting. No arm swinging. No bending down to build momentum. It just hit the ground with its feet and launched. Then it did the exact same thing off the second log before darting behind a standing tree. Jay says it was the most athletic thing he'd ever seen — human, animal, anything. The way it moved, almost like it was pushing off its toes, is something researchers have heard described in other encounters too. That toe-propulsion locomotion is actually a pattern that comes up more than you'd think in Sasquatch reports. It kept popping its head out, and finally stepped into view about 30 to 40 feet away. Jay brought his muzzleloader up to look through the scope — and the moment it started to rise, the creature covered its head, hopped behind the tree, and was gone. Whether it dropped to the ground and army-crawled away, or just found an angle where Jay couldn't see it, he doesn't know. But it knew exactly what that scope was. That encounter kept Jay out of the woods for two full years. Two years. Imagine something spooking you that badly in your own hunting grounds. He also makes a really solid point about weight that doesn't get talked about enough. People tend to underestimate how heavy these beings are. Jay brings up Robert Wadlow, the tallest man ever recorded at 8 feet 11 inches, who weighed around 550 pounds despite being very lean-built. Now imagine a Sasquatch of similar height but built like a brick house with dense muscle and unknown bone density. That math gets heavy fast. A five-foot juvenile weighing a couple hundred pounds of solid muscle? That's no joke. Jay eventually went back to hunting in 2007, refusing to let one experience take away something he'd done his whole life. And according to Dano, the encounters continued all the way up to 2021, with Jay even providing a photo from that most recent one. The full episode is worth the listen. Dano walks Jay through each encounter in order, and there's clearly more to come in the conversation. Check it out over on The Cryptid Profiler channel — Episode 148.
