Woman Describes 8-Foot White Dogman Encounter in Maryland

A recent episode of The Cryptid Profiler podcast features an encounter that's been sitting with me since I listened to it. A Maryland woman named Mindy came on the show to share what she experienced in the early morning hours of June 22, 2024, in Columbia, Maryland — and her account is one of the most detailed dogman reports I've come across in a while. The setup is relatable. Mindy was up around 1:30 AM playing Fortnite with friends, using a white wolf character on the screen. Her black lab Raven needed to go out, so she took her, brought her back in, and then took her yellow lab mix Diana out for her turn. Diana was about 73 pounds and liked to do her business near the curb, between the sidewalk and the road. Across the street from her apartment complex sits a field owned by the electric company. The grass had grown up roughly four and a half to five feet tall, and it was always full of deer — anywhere from five to fifty at a time, year-round. Power lines ran through it. The kind of place that just feels a little off at night. That's when she heard a branch snap. She started to say "Diana, look at the deer" and stopped mid-sentence. Standing across the street, curb to curb, was an eight-foot tall white creature she describes as looking like a werewolf. She had no other word for it at the time. She'd never believed in cryptids before this. The physical details she gives are striking and specific. Long forearms hanging down past where the knees should be. Raccoon-like fingers with black paw pads visible at the tips. Three-inch curved black claws. Amber-colored eyes with no eye shine — she was close enough to see the whites of its eyes and its ears moving independently. A bushy tail she couldn't fully see the length of because of the tall grass. And critically, its mouth stayed closed the entire time. No growl, no snarl, no bared teeth. What makes this account stand out is the behavior. The creature turned its head slowly, looked down at Diana, then back up at Mindy. It kept tilting its head to the side and shaking it, almost like it was trying to process what it was seeing. Mindy could see its eyes moving inside its head. She described it as the creature visibly thinking, trying to figure out what she was. She did what most wildlife experts recommend with a mountain lion — planted her feet, made herself look bigger, and started backing up while pulling Diana with her. The creature shifted its hips left, then right, rolled its arms forward like a cat preparing to pounce, and then dropped down into the grass and vanished. She made it inside, dead bolted the door, and the doorknob rattled. Both dogs, who normally bark at anyone walking past the apartment, sat silent in front of her. This kind of report lines up with patterns researchers have been tracking for years. Power line corridors, overgrown fields, suburban edges where development meets wild space — these locations come up again and again in both Sasquatch and dogman encounters. The behavioral description here is particularly interesting: the curious head-tilting, the lack of overt aggression, the silent dogs. Witnesses in similar situations often describe the same eerie stillness from animals that should be reacting. Mindy also briefly mentions a UFO sighting she had back in 1994 when she was a kid, but the bulk of the episode focuses on this June 2024 encounter. She stayed off camera for professional reasons, and the host respected that. If firsthand accounts like this are your thing, the full episode is worth your time. Mindy walks through her thought process during those terrifying minutes in much more detail, and there's something about hearing it in her own words that hits different. Definitely check it out.
