Oklahoma Hunter Recalls 8-Foot Figure Encounter at Eufaula Dam

If you're into river-bottom Bigfoot encounters, this one from the Bigfoot Society channel is going to hit the spot. A hunter named Triton sat down to share a wild experience he had back in the summer of 2009, and honestly, it's one of those stories that sticks with you. Triton grew up around Eufaula, Oklahoma, and spent most of his summers fishing below Eufaula Dam on the Verdigris River. For those unfamiliar with the area, this stretch of river is seriously remote. Public Service Company of Oklahoma owns the land right below the dam, and there are no houses for six or seven miles downriver. It's the kind of untouched, thick bottomland that Bigfoot researchers have flagged as prime Sasquatch habitat for years. Heavy cover, water, and minimal human disturbance — exactly the trifecta. Anyway, Triton and his best friend Jared were down there catfishing around 2:30 in the morning. They'd been catching fish for a while, had their side of the bank lit up, and were the only people around. Then out of nowhere, something that sounded like an entire tree being hurled into the river caught both of their attention. It was on the opposite bank, about 60 or 70 yards away. Triton's heard beavers slap the water and random limbs fall in before, but this was different. This was loud and close. Then things escalated. The sounds started moving up the opposite side of the river, snapping trees along the way, almost like a truck plowing through the brush. They shined their lights across and eventually caught a silhouette near two sycamore trees that had grown together into one massive trunk. Here's where it gets really interesting. The figure was rocking back and forth, peeking its head out from behind the tree. Triton said the base of that tree was two or three of him wide, and this thing's shoulders were visible on the outside of it. He estimated it at around eight feet tall, well above chin level on him, and he's almost six feet. It stayed there for two or three minutes, just swaying, before backing up and leaping back down the river with a sound that was plain as day. Afterward, Triton went and checked out the spot. No way it was a person. He even called the Corps of Engineers and Game and Fish to ask if anything unusual had been reported in the area. They mentioned a bear sighting, but Triton wasn't buying it. And here's a detail that gives this story even more weight — his aunt later told him she'd had her own sighting in that exact same spot. The Bigfoot Society host, Jeremiah, asks some good follow-up questions about height, sounds, and how it affected Triton and Jared afterward. Jared, who Triton describes as more of a skeptic, was the one who said, "Let's get out of here." They reeled up and left. No shame in that.
