Kentucky isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think about Bigfoot country. Most folks associate Sasquatch with the Pacific Northwest, the dense forests of Washington and Oregon where the legend was born. But stories like the one shared on the My Bigfoot Sighting channel prove that these creatures don't stick to any one region, and Davis County, Kentucky might just be hiding something extraordinary in its river bottoms and deep ravines.
This episode features a guest with not one, not two, but multiple encounters spanning several years, all on the same family property near the Ohio River. And let me tell you, the details are chilling.
The first encounter happened around 2002. The witness was helping his uncle clear a tree line on the property, driving a small tractor while his uncle operated a bulldozer. While sitting in the middle of the field with the dozer running at full blast, he heard a roar so loud it cut right through the noise of the machinery. The kind of sound that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. When he turned to look, he saw deer, rabbits, and raccoons fleeing from a ravine behind an old abandoned barn. About ten minutes later, he noticed something leaning out of one of the barn's door openings, looking directly at him. The creature had its arm wrapped around the beam at the top of the doorway. Now here's the kicker: the witness is 6'3" and could barely touch that beam on his tiptoes. That puts the creature at a minimum of 8 to 8.5 feet tall.
For anyone familiar with Sasquatch reports, this kind of behavior is consistent with what's been documented in other regions. Bigfoot is known to be curious but cautious, often observing humans from a distance before disappearing back into the woods. The fact that this one lingered for 15 to 20 minutes, peeking out and then ducking back in, fits the pattern of a creature that was just as interested in watching as the witness was in watching it.
The second encounter came around 2007, and this one is even more intense. The witness and a friend were up on the property digging through shale piles looking for fossils, throwing pieces of slate over the edge into a ravine. Then the rocks started coming back. When they decided to leave, the real nightmare began. As they walked the 200 to 300 yards back to the truck along a gravel road, they heard footsteps in the ditch next to them. Whatever it was, it was pacing them. They would stop, it would stop. They would take a few steps, it would take a few steps. When they finally got within 50 yards of the truck and broke into a dead run, the creature emerged from the reeds in the ditch, ran straight in front of the truck as the high beams hit it, and then bolted straight up a steep hillside faster than anything the witness had ever seen move. He described it as shaggy but clean, with a grayish tint, muscular arms and legs, and built like nothing else.
The third experience happened before the first sighting, when the witness and his cousin were camping in a tree fort they had built on one of the ridges. Around midnight, after laughing at a joke, they heard a whistle so powerful it could be felt in the chest. They initially thought it was the cousin's dad messing with them, but he was sound asleep in bed. That kind of vocalization is something researchers have documented in various Sasquatch reports, with witnesses describing everything from whistles to screams to wood knocks used as communication or warning signals.
Over the years, this witness has continued to have experiences in the same area: more rocks thrown at him, TP structures found in the woods, additional whistles, and a strange high-pitched chittering sound that bounced back and forth from one side of the woods to the other, almost like monkey gibberish. He also mentions being contacted by a local hunter who was having issues with something stealing his deer, which is another common thread in Bigfoot lore. Many hunters across the country have reported finding deer carcasses that have been partially consumed or manipulated in ways that don't match typical predator behavior.
Kentucky has a long history of Bigfoot sightings, often referred to locally as the "Bigfoot" or "Yahoo" depending on the region. The state's dense forests, river systems, and rugged terrain provide ideal habitat for a large, reclusive primate. Davis County, with its deep ravines, tall hills, and proximity to the Ohio River, has the kind of geography that could easily hide a family group of these creatures for generations.
This is one of those stories that really makes you think about how much is still out there, waiting to be discovered in places we least expect. If you want to hear the full account straight from the witness, definitely check out the episode. It's worth every minute.
