The first sighting occurred in early 2004, when the men were playing in a truck in the fresh snow. Despite the thick clouds obscuring their vision 90% of the time, they managed to catch a glimpse of the creature for about 10 seconds as the clouds cleared. They estimate the creature was about 200 yards away. The second sighting was a more terrifying experience, as one of the men lost his phone and went back to search for it in the early morning hours. He heard a loud crack that sounded like someone swinging a bat into a telephone pole, followed by something moving around 50 yards away. He describes the sound as being too heavy to be a deer. The man recounts his fear as he walked back down the trail, hearing something moving through the trees, staying with him until he reached the turn in the trail that changed directions.
