Nebraska may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of Bigfoot sightings, but this Midwestern state has its fair share of mysterious encounters with the elusive creature. I recently came across a video on YouTube that explores the top five Bigfoot sightings in Nebraska, and I am writing this article to share some of the fascinating details with you.
The video starts by providing some context about Nebraska's geography and population density, which makes it an intriguing location for Bigfoot sightings. The state has vast expanses of quiet countryside, and only 3% of Nebraska is forested, making it an ideal habitat for the elusive creature.
The first sighting on the list is the Niobrara River Watcher, which occurred in October 2020 at Neoaha State Park near Niobrara, Nebraska. A father and son hiking at dusk near the river overlook trail spotted a tall dark figure standing motionless at the tree line. As they paused, the figure moved uphill with a smooth gate and vanished behind a ridge. The next morning, they returned to the site and found a series of large humanlike tracks leading down to the riverbank.
The second sighting is the Harland County Lakeside Howler, which occurred in July 2019 at Harland County Reservoir near Alma, Nebraska. A group of campers reported hearing a deep throaty howl echoing across the lake around midnight. Minutes later, one of the campers noticed a large silhouette moving near the tree line behind their tent, nearly 8 ft tall and broad-shouldered. The group left the next morning shaken and convinced the sound they heard did not belong to any known animal in the area.
The third sighting is the Fort Robinson State Park sighting, which occurred in May 2021 near Crawford, Nebraska. A solo hiker in the early morning reported seeing a massive bipedal creature cross a trail about 100 yd ahead. The figure was seen clearly in full daylight, walking upright through sparse trees before vanishing into a ravine.
The fourth sighting is the Sand Hills Night Walker, which occurred in August 2022 in the Nebraska National Forest Bessie Ranger District near Hyannis, Nebraska. Four college students camping off-trail heard loud snapping branches and strange grunting noises coming from deep in the trees. When they shined flashlights toward the sounds, they saw a tall figure with broad shoulders and glowing eyes at the edge of the trees. The group fled to their car and later reported hearing two more vocalizations as they drove away.
The fifth and final sighting on the list is the Platte River Plains Giant, which occurred in April 2023 at Platte River State Park near Louisville, Nebraska. A group of five friends staying in one of the park cabins went out for a night walk along the Stone Creek Trail around 11:30 p.m. They heard heavy footfalls in the brush followed by the sound of two wood knocks in rapid succession. As they approached a clearing, they saw a huge creature standing upright at the base of a cottonwood tree, partially lit by moonlight. One of the witnesses, a biology teacher from Omaha, recalled it was at least 8 and 1/2 ft tall with long arms and shaggy black hair. The creature did not growl or move toward them but stared and then turned and walked into the trees like they weren't even there.
The video is a fascinating exploration of Bigfoot sightings in Nebraska, and it highlights the intrigue and mystery surrounding the elusive creature. While watching the video, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and wonder about the possibility of Bigfoot's existence. If you're a Bigfoot enthusiast, I recommend checking out the video for yourself and sharing your thoughts in the comment section.
