Bigfoot Encounters: A Speaker's Personal Connections to the Legend

While they were on the property chopping firewood, they took a break and went to a tree that the family had picked out many generations ago to carve their names on. Amanda's cousin had recently become a part of the family, so they wanted to let her add her name to the tree. As they were carving their names, Amanda's brother heard something in the woods and told them they needed to leave. Amanda didn't want to leave, but as they were running back to their parents, they heard a "God awful roar, scream, howl" that was the loudest thing Amanda had ever heard in her life. She dropped to her knees and saw her brother and cousin running ahead of her. When she caught up to them, they were all shaken and her brother described seeing a 7-8 foot tall man-like creature standing about 50 yards up the hill behind Amanda. Amanda also shares that her grandmother, who grew up on the same property, used to tell her stories about "boogers," which Amanda always thought were ghost stories. But after her encounter with Bigfoot, she realized that her grandmother was talking about Bigfoot. In the Appalachians, "booger" is a term for Bigfoot and "haint" is a term for ghosts. In the video, Amanda also shares a more recent encounter she had with Bigfoot while working at Expedition Bigfoot, the Sasquatch Museum in Cherry Log, Georgia. She has worked there for several years and has had many different jobs, but working at the museum is one of her greatest experiences.
