New York state has a rich history of reported Sasquatch sightings, with accounts spanning several decades and regions. The Iroquois, the main tribe in the Iroquois Confederation, have stories of giants similar to Sasquatch. According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), New York has numerous reports of Bigfoot sightings, with higher concentrations in certain areas. The Adirondack Mountains, located in the foothills of the Tug Hill, have been a focal point for Sasquatch enthusiasts. One of the most credible sightings occurred in August 1976 in Whitehall, New York, where multiple witnesses, including law enforcement officers, reported encountering a large hairy creature near the Aber Road. This incident has since become a cornerstone of New York Bigfoot lore. The Lake George area, also in the Adirondack Mountains, is another hot spot for Sasquatch sightings. In fact, it is the hottest spot in New York for Sasquatch sightings. The dense vegetation and bodies of water in the area make it an all-you-can-eat buffet for wildlife, and it's no surprise that Sasquatch would be drawn to such a location. The Green Mountain National Forest, located in southern Vermont, is also home to many Sasquatch sightings. In the 1980s, residents reported encounters with a creature dubbed the Kinderhook creature, a large hominid that allegedly terrorized families in the area. In May 2021, a resident from Highland, New York, reported multiple sightings of a large hairy creature in her backyard, standing 10 to 11 feet tall with glowing eyes. Sightings of Sasquatch with glowing eyes are not uncommon, and it is believed that the eyes glow from inside the creature, rather than reflecting light. The only reason I bring this up is because my cats have yellowish-green eyes that glow in the dark, and it's a little creepy. New York state is a hotbed for Sasquatch sightings, and it's no wonder why. The dense vegetation, bodies of water, and abundant wildlife make it an ideal location for Sasquatch to thrive.
