A fascinating video recently surfaced on YouTube, featuring esteemed knowledge holder Isaac Murdoch from Serpent River First Nation. In the video, Murdoch shares traditional knowledge about Bigfoot, or Babok, as it is known in the Anishinaabe language.
Murdoch, who is from the Fish Clan, grew up in a traditional setting of hunting, fishing, and trapping in the northern regions of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. He is well-respected as a storyteller and traditional knowledge holder, having committed his life to the preservation of Anishinaabe cultural practices.
In the video, Murdoch shares his earliest memories of Bigfoot, hearing from his father that they are the protectors and guardians of the forest. He recalls offerings being made to the Babok Nation, including meat, fish, and liver, as a way to pay respect to these spiritual beings for the work they do for the Earth.
Murdoch also shares a personal experience of being taken to a special place called Ching, which means "the place of the big bones." This place is not a place to visit, but rather a place to pass through with caution. It is a sacred waterfall and graveyard for the Babok, where offerings are made and bones are hung in the trees.
One particularly intriguing story shared in the video is about a battle between the Anishinaabe and the Mohawk people. A wounded warrior was taken to the side of a lake to pray and prepare for his possible death. Suddenly, a great big being appeared and pulled a yellow water lily root from the water. The being began to smash and grind the root, infusing it with its sacred breath and turning it into medicine.
This video is a must-watch for any Bigfoot enthusiast, as it offers a unique perspective on the spiritual significance of these elusive creatures in Anishinaabe culture. It is a reminder that Bigfoot is not just a myth or legend, but a revered and respected spiritual being in many indigenous cultures.
I encourage our readers to watch the video and learn more about the traditional knowledge surrounding Bigfoot. It is important to respect and honor the beliefs and traditions of all cultures when it comes to these magnificent creatures.
