Hawaii, an island paradise known for its lush rainforests, volcanic landscapes, and deep cultural history, is also home to mysterious and elusive beings that have long been the subject of local folklore. While Bigfoot sightings may not be as common in Hawaii as they are on the mainland, the islands have their own unique cryptids that have been spotted by both locals and tourists alike.
The YouTube channel Campfire Creepers - Stories Stranger Than Fiction has compiled a list of the top five cryptid sightings in Hawaii, and the videos are definitely worth a watch for any Bigfoot enthusiast. From eerie encounters with humanoid figures in deep forests to towering creatures roaming the volcanic slopes, these sightings are sure to leave you intrigued and captivated.
At number five, we have the Maui Valley Giant, spotted in the Yao Valley State Monument near Wuku Maui. Two hikers reported seeing a massive shadowy figure standing among the trees as they walked along the rainforest path near the famous EO needle rock formation. The creature appeared to be over 7 ft tall and covered in dark matted hair, watching them silently before disappearing into the dense vegetation.
Coming in at number four is the Mo Guardian of Kawi, spotted in Vimea Canyon State Park near Ya Kai. Three campers setting up near one of the park's lookout points claimed to have encountered a large scaly humanoid figure watching them from a ridge above. As they approached, the creature suddenly leapt off the edge and disappeared. The campers described the figure as resembling a mole, a legendary Hawaiian shape shifter that takes the form of a giant lizard.
At number three, we have the Menehune watchers of Oahu, spotted in Kahana Valley State Park near Kaneoh. A local hiker reported hearing whispering voices and rustling in the underbrush, only to catch a brief glimpse of several small humanoid figures darting between trees. The hiker described the figures as no taller than 3 ft with dark eyes that reflected the moonlight. Local legends say the Menehune dislike being seen and will vanish into the jungle if approached.
The night marchers of Hawaii Island come in at number two, spotted in Volcanoes National Park near Hilo. Four campers reported seeing a line of tall spectral figures carrying torches walking through volcanic rock formations. The figures appeared to be wearing ancient Hawaiian battle armor and moved as if floating. The group was paralyzed with fear until the figures suddenly vanished. This sighting aligns with the legend of the night marchers, spirits of ancient Hawaiian warriors said to roam the islands at night.
And at number one, we have the Bigfoot of Monarcha, spotted on Monarcha near Monarchia Arb Observatory Hawaii Big Island. A group of six researchers studying atmospheric conditions near the Monarchya visitor center witnessed an enormous humanoid figure walking along the slopes at twilight. One witness, Dr. Ryan M, described the encounter as "unlike anything I've ever seen." The researchers also found large footprints in the volcanic ash measuring nearly 18 in long.
These sightings are just a few examples of the mysterious and elusive beings that call Hawaii home. Whether you believe in Bigfoot or not, these videos are definitely worth a watch for anyone interested in cryptids and the unknown. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show!
