The yeren, China's version of Bigfoot, has been a part of Chinese folklore for centuries. Sightings of this elusive creature have been reported since the Warring States period, around 340 BC, and have remained consistent through the Tang Dynasty in 907 AD. Described as a large, ape-like creature with human-like features, the yeren is said to inhabit the remote mountainous regions of China, particularly in the Shennongjia Forestry District in the Hubei province. The yeren, also known as the "Wildman," is said to be over 6 feet tall, covered in hair, and possessing a face that is a mix of ape and human. It is also said to have long arms that hang down to its knees and big feet. The yeren is known to descend from the mountains to raid villages for food or for people to eat or rape. In the 1950s and 60s, scientific interest in the yeren erupted in conjunction with the discoveries related to Bigfoot and the yeti. However, pressure from the Chinese government to "Leave Behind" these kinds of legends and folk stories repressed further interest in the yeren until the dissolution of the Mao government in 1976. Afterwards, large expeditions were launched by the Chinese Academy of Sciences to investigate alleged eyewitness accounts, footprints, hairs, and bodies by Chinese scientists. There have been over 300 recorded sightings of the yeren since the 1920s. In this video from the YouTube channel Forgotten History, they explore the mystery of the yeren and its place in Chinese folklore. The video covers the history of the yeren, from its earliest written accounts to modern-day sightings. The video also covers the scientific expeditions launched to investigate the yeren, as well as the evidence that has been collected, such as footprints, hair samples, and even photographs. The video also covers the impact that the yeren has had on Chinese culture, including its use as a symbol of environmental conservation and its role in attracting tourists to remote villages within the Hubei province. I found this video to be informative and well-researched. It provides a comprehensive overview of the yeren and its place in Chinese folklore, as well as the scientific evidence that has been collected. I would encourage all Bigfoot enthusiasts to check out this video and learn more about China's version of Bigfoot. It's worth noting that the video is based on the research and findings of various scientists, historians and researchers, and it's always good to keep an open mind and consider different perspectives when it comes to such a mysterious and elusive creature as the yeren.
