Determined to have his own encounter, Rory planned a 90-mile hike through the Six Rivers National Forest in Northern California, an area known for its high population of bears and mountain lions. Rory's journey started with a train ride to Reading, where he caught a bus to Willow Creek, the "Bigfoot Capital of the World." He stayed at the Bigfoot Motel and set out early the next morning with a 100-pound backpack filled with food, camping gear, and military-grade repelling rope. As Rory made his way uphill, he encountered a bear trying to steal his food. Unfazed, Rory used his wit and five different voices to scare the bear away. He eventually set up camp for the night, but his adventure was just beginning. Rory's journey was filled with numerous bear and mountain lion encounters, totaling over 100 bear sightings and five mountain lion encounters. However, it was his interaction with a local who had a bond with a Bigfoot that truly stood out. The man claimed that a Bigfoot would come to his property at the same time every year for a few years, and even played catch with him. Inspired, Rory changed his plans and headed to Bluff Creek, an area known for its high concentration of Bigfoot sightings. He spent several expeditions exploring the area and even found a juvenile Bigfoot print that was extraordinarily wide. Rory's story is a fascinating account of one man's determination to seek out the elusive Bigfoot.
