Have you heard of the Glawackus, Connecticut's unique and mysterious cryptid? The Connecticut Cryptid Investigative Society (CCIS) recently released a video discussing this elusive creature and its connection to the state.
According to the video, the Glawackus was first cited in the 1930s and is unique to Connecticut. Descriptions of the creature are vague, but it is said to be a large, unusual animal, possibly a wolverine, fisher cat, or a very large mink. Some even speculate that it could be a holdover from the Ice Age, such as a dwarfed Smilodon or a woolly mammoth.
The CCIS explains that they did consider the Winstead Wild Man, which falls into the Bigfoot category, but they ultimately chose the Glawackus as Connecticut's unique cryptid due to its distinct connection to the state. The Winstead Wild Man, on the other hand, is a common type of cryptid, with similar creatures reported worldwide.
While there are no photographs of the Glawackus, its impact is undeniable. The very definition of a cryptid is an unclassified animal, making the Glawackus a true cryptid of Connecticut.
