A group of four kayakers exploring a secluded section of the lake claimed to have seen a large dark figure watching them from the shore. As they paddled closer, the creature retreated into the trees with surprising agility. And at number one is the Honey Island Swamp Monster encounter, which occurred in Honey Island Swamp near Sidell, Louisiana in October 2023. A group of five wildlife researchers on a boat tour reported an encounter with a figure that was at least 7 feet tall, covered in shaggy mud-caked fur, and had piercing yellow eyes. The researchers later found large unidentifiable tracks in the soft mud near their boat launch, further fueling speculation that something unknown still lurks in Louisiana's swamps.
