In a recent episode of the Cheap Smut podcast, hosts Katie and Carl Misel discussed the book "Bowling with Bigfoot" by Eden Crow. The book, which is available for $3.99 or through Kindle Unlimited, is the second in the Monsters of Mistwood series, with the first book being "Dirty Deals Over Decaf," a demon and devil romance.
The Monsters of Mistwood series is set in the small town of Mistwood, West Virginia, located in the Appalachian region of North America. Appalachia is known for its old mountains and the presence of old gods and untamed wilderness. In Mistwood, the lay lines beneath the town allow supernatural creatures and cryptids to appear normal, creating a thriving metropolis for them to live in.
"Bowling with Bigfoot" follows the story of Hazel Reed, a former theater kid who is redheaded, pale, 6 feet tall, fat, athletic, strong, and capable. She is also super intelligent. The book is described as a cozy romance with low stakes, featuring enemies to lovers and sports rivals. It is an FM Sis hat romance, meaning it features a human and a Sasquatch.
The podcast hosts discussed the tropes and triggers present in the book, including mentions of death, loss, and grief, discussions of opiate addiction and rehab, debt and money, digital sex work, a fat main character, and depictions of self-injury or internalized fat phobia. The book's tiations include Sasquatch, Sasquatch's dick, outdoor sex on camera, some primal, some choking, biting, exhibitionism, and voyeurism.
I am always excited to come across new books and media featuring Sasquatch. The idea of a cozy romance between a human and a Sasquatch is intriguing and I am excited to check out "Bowling with Bigfoot" for myself. If you're a Bigfoot believer or just looking for a unique romance novel, I encourage you to check out this book and the Monsters of Mistwood series.
