Coming in at number five is the appalachicola Apparition. In March 2021, two hikers reported catching a glimpse of a large shadowy figure weaving between the ancient trees in the appalachicola National Forest. The diffused light and gentle breeze contributed to an atmosphere of uncertainty and intrigue, leaving the hikers to wonder what they had just seen. At number four is the makaka mystery. In June 2019, three campers reported spotting a towering hair-covered figure emerging briefly from dense vegetation at the makaka River State Park near Sarasota. The campers reported their sighting to local authorities, but lacking physical evidence, the case faded away. The fakahi Phantom takes the number three spot. In October 2020, a solitary camper reported a fleeting encounter with a massive mysterious figure emerging from the thick underbrush at fakahi strand preserved state park near Everglade City. The heavy humidity and fading daylight combined to create a surreal almost dreamlike backdrop for the sighting. Coming in at number two is the Okala odity. In July 2022, four hikers reported encountering a towering shaggy figure near one of the Park's popular campgrounds at Okala National Forest near Okala, Florida. The hikers were very adamant about what they had just witnessed and swore they would never hike that trail again. And the number one spot goes to the Everglades Enigma. In May 2023, a guided tour group experienced a spine-tingling encounter along a seldom-traveled Boardwalk Trail at Everglades National Park near Homestead, Florida. The group discovered enormous freshly imprinted footprints in the soft muddy soil that led into a dense thicket. Moments later, a massive shaggy figure emerged silently from the gloom, pausing as if to observe the startled onlookers before disappearing back into the wild.
