In a chilling video posted to the YouTube channel Curious Explorers, the dark and horrifying tale of Portlock, Alaska is unraveled. Once a thriving settlement with a school and a post office, the village was abandoned after a series of mysterious and terrifying events.
According to the video, people began disappearing and bodies were found mutilated with no explanation. The villagers lived in fear of something sinister lurking in the shadows, and eventually, the entire town was abandoned.
The video explores the history of Portlock, dating back to 1785 when a British captain named Nathaniel Portlock stumbled upon the area. His crew suffered from a strange sickness and heard unsettling cries from the forest, leading them to flee in terror. Six years earlier, Spanish explorers had visited the same location and experienced similar mysterious illnesses and eerie occurrences.
In the early 1900s, a nomadic native community called the Shook Payak attempted to settle in Portlock, but they too were driven away by terrifying beings known as the Nanak. These monstrous creatures were described as half-human, half-beast, with immense strength and a taste for human flesh.
In 1921, a new group of settlers arrived, determined to break the curse of Portlock. They built a cannery, a school, and a post office, and enforced strict rules to protect themselves. However, in 1931, a logger named Andrew Camlock ventured too deep into the forest and was brutally murdered, with his body and sled found mutilated beyond recognition.
The terror continued, with residents disappearing and hunters, loggers, and prospectors meeting violent ends. The villagers knew that something monstrous was lurking in the woods, and by 1950, the entire community had fled in fear.
The video raises the question of what could have caused the mysterious events in Portlock. Some believe that an unknown predator using infrasound to disorient its prey could be to blame, while others suggest that a Cryptid known as the Nanak could be responsible.
I find the story of Portlock to be both fascinating and terrifying. The video does an excellent job of exploring the history of the village and the mysterious events that took place there. I encourage all Bigfoot enthusiasts to watch the video and form their own opinions on the legend of Portlock.
