A new book on unrecognized primates in North America has caught the attention of the Bigfoot community. The book, "Beyond Bigfoot: The Other Unrecognized Primates of North America," by cryptozoologist Ryan Edwards, explores the possibility of other primate species in the continent beyond Bigfoot.
Edwards, who hails from San Antonio, Texas, is a returning guest on the Bigfoot Society podcast, where he discussed his new book and the research that went into it. He mentions that the book is a follow-up to his second book, "Sasquatch Prehistory," which delves into the possible evolutionary origins of Sasquatch in North America.
One of the main focuses of "Beyond Bigfoot" is the idea of breaking down the different types of Sasquatch into morphological and zoological categories. Edwards explains that it is unlikely for primates to have many subspecies, and instead, he proposes the existence of three main varieties: devil monkeys, gugwe, and the M American ape.
Devil monkeys, a well-known cryptid throughout North America, have been researched since the 1960s by the likes of Mar Hall and Lauren Coleman. Gugwe, on the other hand, are Sasquatch-like species with a muzzle-like mandible, while the M American ape is a chimpanzee-like creature with a divergent big toe.
Edwards also discusses the idea of speculative evolution and the likelihood of these creatures being unknown species of primates in North America. He notes that the sightings of these creatures could also be misidentifications or unknown species that have yet to be discovered.
The book features an in-depth look at the nape, a type of footprint that is different from the typical Bigfoot print. Edwards presents the idea that the nape footprint could be a sign of a different primate species.
The book is a must-read for any Bigfoot enthusiast, as it provides a fresh perspective on the possibility of other primate species in North America. Edwards' research and analysis are well-researched and well-presented, making for an engaging and informative read.
