A recent video posted to YouTube by The Lore Lodge has caught the attention of Bigfoot enthusiasts and researchers. The video, titled "Cannibals in the Caves | The Feral People of the Pacific Northwest," delves into historical accounts of a creature known as Bigfoot in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States.
The video begins by discussing a newspaper article from the October 26th, 1867 issue of the Oregon City Enterprise. The article tells the story of Lieutenant Barker and his men, who discovered large, non-human footprints while on an Indian hunt in the vicinity of Wiser, Idaho. The footprints were described as being 17 1/2 inches long and 7 inches wide, and were attributed to a creature known as Bigfoot. However, it is unclear whether the term "Bigfoot" in this context refers to the legendary creature or to a historical figure, as the article also mentions a Pyute war chief by the name of Hoock, who was also known as Bigfoot.
The video then moves on to discuss a more recent account from January 27th, 1902, in which a group of young people in Chesterfield, Idaho reported sighting a "hair-covered human monster" while skating along the Portnof River. The creature was described as being at least 8 feet tall and covered in long, reddish-brown hair, with only a small spot of bare skin above its eyes. The young people observed the creature from a safe distance and noted that it left behind tracks measuring 22 inches long by 7 1/4 inches wide, with the imprint of only four toes.
The video also touches on the subject of gorillas in California, and the fact that at the time these stories were circulating, there were no gorillas in the state. This has led some to speculate that the accounts of Bigfoot may have been based on misidentifications of bears or other large animals.
As a Bigfoot researcher, I find these historical accounts to be fascinating and worth further investigation. It's good to consider all possible explanations for these sightings, including the possibility that they may have been misidentifications or hoaxes. However, the consistent descriptions of large, bipedal creatures with distinct physical characteristics over the years lends credence to the idea that there may be something truly mysterious and elusive living in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest.
I encourage all Bigfoot enthusiasts and researchers to watch the video and draw their own conclusions. It's always exciting to see new historical accounts and perspectives on the subject of Bigfoot, and I believe that this video is a valuable contribution to the ongoing conversation about this fascinating and elusive creature.
