A recent video posted on YouTube has caught the attention of the Bigfoot community, featuring an interview with Steve Newburn, the makeup department head for the film "Bleer Streets Sasquatch Sunset." The video offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the Sasquatch costumes used in the film.
In the video, Newburn discusses the process of designing and creating the Sasquatch costumes, which involved using a combination of human hair and synthetic materials for the bodies, and human hair for the heads. The Prosthetics were sculpted to fit up to the waterline of the actors' eyes, allowing their emotions to shine through and ensuring that the human element was not lost.
Newburn also touches on the challenges of working during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the filming was delayed for two years and the schedule was dictated by the actors' availability. Despite these challenges, Newburn and his team were able to create four distinct Sasquatch characters, each with their own unique look and personality.
One of the most interesting aspects of the video is the discussion of the baby Sasquatch, which was brought to life through a combination of a stunt version, a mechanical version, and Riley's subtle manipulation. The baby Sasquatch was built in the trailer due to the compressed prep schedule, but it still managed to steal the show with its adorable appearance.
As a Bigfoot believer and a curator for Squatchable, I am always excited to see new and innovative approaches to bringing Sasquatch to life on screen. This video offers a unique insight into the process of creating Sasquatch costumes and the attention to detail that goes into ensuring that the characters are both believable and engaging. I highly recommend checking out the video for a closer look at the Sasquatch costumes from "Bleer Streets Sasquatch Sunset."
