Along with a group of friends, they had gone to the old Resort near Springfield, Missouri, in search of a reported Kagaroo creature. However, what they found instead was something far more extraordinary. As they were walking back to their van, a powerful, nauseating smell enveloped them, and suddenly, Jean, one of Ron's friends, spotted a large, furry silhouette behind a tree. The figure had broad shoulders, a conical head, and was swaying back and forth, watching the group. In a state of shock and adrenaline, Ron and his friends ran back to their van, leaving the other campers behind. After catching their breath, Ron and one of his friends decided to return to the spot where they had seen the Sasquatch. The smell was gone, and nothing was behind the tree. However, Ron realized that whatever had been standing behind that tree had been at least eight and a half feet tall, as it had been looking eye-to-eye with Jean, who was 6'5". For many years, Ron kept this encounter to himself, not wanting to be labeled as the town idiot. However, after discovering the BFRO website in the early 2000s, he decided to submit his report and became an investigator for the organization. This encounter is a powerful reminder of the mysterious and elusive nature of Sasquatch.
