Friends Encounter 8-Foot Sasquatch on Church Retreat in Wyoming Forest

A thrilling close encounter with a Sasquatch was reported in Shell, Wyoming, back in September 1985. The incident occurred near Highway 14, on the west side of the Big Horn mountains, an area known for its dense conifer trees and rugged terrain. A group of friends, who had been visiting the region for their annual church retreat, stumbled upon the massive creature while searching for squirrels in the woods. The witnesses described the Sasquatch as an 8-foot-tall, 500-pound being, covered in dark, coarse hair, with a human-like face and muscular build. The creature's arms were exceptionally long, and its broad shoulders slumped forward, giving it a unique appearance. The encounter lasted for at least two minutes, during which the Sasquatch seemed to observe the stunned hikers before emitting a deep, cough-like sound and moving away. The following day, the group returned to the site with the father of one of the witnesses, an experienced outdoorsman. Although they found evidence of the creature's presence, including disturbed grass and branches, the Sasquatch itself remained elusive. The BFRO follow-up investigator, who spoke with the witnesses at length, reported that the witnesses had no preconceived notions about Sasquatches prior to the encounter. The investigator concluded that the witnesses had seen an animal identical to the descriptions given by other Sasquatch eyewitnesses.
