Bigfoot sightings have been reported in various parts of the world, and New Jersey is no exception. A recent video posted on the YouTube channel Odd & Untold discusses several Bigfoot sightings in Morris County, New Jersey. The video is based on stories from the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization) website and features a witness who saw a tall, bulky, black figure with long arms and a dome-shaped head near the Maon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township. According to the witness, the figure moved from right to left with its arms swinging in large motions. The witness initially thought it was a person wearing black clothing but soon realized that it was not a human being. The witness's sons were with him during the sighting, but they did not see the figure. However, they noticed that their father was shaken and believed him when he described what he had seen. The witness described the figure as being about 12 inches taller and three times bigger around than his 155 lb, 5'6" son. The witness's impression was that the figure was curious and had been watching them. The wife of the witness, who stayed back at the camp, also believed her husband's account because he does not scare easily, and his face was white when he returned to the camp to tell her about the encounter. The witness and his wife returned to the location of the sighting on March 10, 2012, and met with a BFRO investigator. The investigator found both the witness and his wife to be credible and did not find any reason for them to make up the story. The investigator also noted that the witness and his sons had been cooking on an open fire ring the night before the sighting and that the boys had been breaking fallen tree limbs against the trunks of trees during the day of the sighting. The investigator suggested that the Bigfoot may have been drawn in by the sense of food being cooked and the wood knocking the boys made during play. The video also features a picture of the witness standing next to a tree, with his hand raised about a foot above his head. The investigator used this as a comparison for the size of the Bigfoot, estimating that it was about 7.5 to 8 feet tall and much wider than the witness. While some skeptics may dismiss this sighting as a hoax or a misidentification of a bear or another animal, the witness's detailed description and the investigator's follow-up investigation suggest that this was a genuine encounter with a Bigfoot. The witness's credibility and the absence of any apparent motive for making up the story add to the authenticity of the sighting.
