If you're a Bigfoot enthusiast, you'll want to check out this year's Sasquatch Festival in Whitehall, New York. The festival, which takes place in the southeastern corner of the Adirondack Park, has a long history of Sasquatch sightings, with tales dating back to the Native Americans and French explorer Samuel D. Chaplain. Whitehall is considered a Sasquatch sanctuary, where the community celebrates and protects the elusive creature. In fact, the town passed a law in 2004 prohibiting the hunting of Bigfoot. The first Sasquatch Fest was held in 2016, and it has been growing in popularity every year. The festival features vendors, food trucks, live music, exhibits, expert presentations, and a calling contest. One of the highlights of the festival is the opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of Sasquatch sightings. In this year's festival, Brian Goslin, who was part of a group of locals, mostly law enforcement, who had a major Bigfoot encounter in Whitehall in 1975, shared his experience in an interview. In addition to the interview with Goslin, the festival also featured a calling contest, where participants tried to imitate the sounds of a Sasquatch. The contest was judged by a panel of experts, and the winner received a prize. The festival is a great opportunity for Bigfoot believers to come together and celebrate their passion for the elusive creature. If you weren't able to make it to this year's festival, be sure to check out the Adirondack Bigfoot YouTube channel for videos and interviews from the event. And, who knows, maybe you'll be inspired to plan a trip to Whitehall for next year's festival.
