If you're a fan of found footage films and cryptids, then you're in for a treat. A YouTube channel by the name of CULT AND CLASSIC FILMS recently released a podcast episode where they discuss a movie called "Squatch Junkies" from 2023. The movie is about a group of moonshine and meth manufacturers in the Ozark Mountains who encounter a Sasquatch addicted to their products. The episode is part one of a double feature, with part two discussing this year's brand new Shrek crack. The hosts of the podcast are Nate Woff, Tad Masterani, and Greg Johnson, who provide their thoughts on the movie. "Squatch Junkies" is a Janice Click feature, which typically involves odd sounds, strange visuals, and absurdly comedic while also being unbearably creepy at times. However, this movie is unusual in Janice Click's repertoire because it is not written by Janice Click herself, but by Slade Schul. The movie opens with a short film called "Yard Work" by other folks in Missouri who work alongside Janice Click. The hosts of the podcast had mixed feelings about the short, but overall found it to be enjoyable and darkly comedic. One thing that the hosts of the podcast noted was the pacing of the movie, with Tad Masterani mentioning that it was a "little bit of a slog" to get through. However, they all agreed that there needed to be more Sasquatch and less junkies in the movie. If you're a fan of cryptid movies or just enjoy found footage films, then "Squatch Junkies" is definitely worth checking out. And be sure to tune in to the CULT AND CLASSIC FILMS podcast for their thoughts on the movie.
