In a recent video posted on the REI YouTube channel, titled "The Dark Divide: Sasquatch," the hosts share an intriguing story about Bigfoot, or as it is known in the story, "Glue." The story is told by Harvest Moon, a Quinalt Native Elder, renowned storyteller, and honored historian. The story takes us back to a time when the women and children were out picking blackberries. As they were returning to the village, they heard rustling in the brush. The women quickly realized that it wasn't a deer or bear, but a huge monster with legs as big as tree trunks, covered in hair, and with hypnotic red eyes. This monster, named Glue, started chasing the women, kicking over their baskets of berries, and causing havoc in the village. The men went to investigate, but they couldn't find any footprints or hair. That night, the guard dogs stood frozen as Glue threw driftwood on the roof and screamed through the entire night. The next day, the salmon fishermen found that no salmon had been caught, as Glue's dirty, stinky feet had scared them away. The Chiefs gathered together to find a solution to rid themselves of this monster. A whale hunter, an elk hunter, and a young man who could carry a huge rock the furthest all came forward, but it was the young man who was chosen to kill Glue. He was given a special spear and set off to find the monster. this story is both fascinating and chilling. It's a reminder of the power and mystery that surrounds Bigfoot, and the impact it can have on a community. Harvest Moon's storytelling adds a rich cultural context, making the story even more captivating.
