If you're a fan of cryptids and the unexplained, then you're in for a treat! A video I recently came across on YouTube takes a closer look at some famous American monsters and cryptids. From the Mothman of West Virginia to the Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest, this video covers it all. The Mothman, a mysterious winged creature with glowing red eyes, was first sighted in Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1966. With supposedly 100 sightings between 1966 and 1967, this cryptid has certainly made its presence known. One of the more recent sightings was in Point Pleasant in November 2016, where an anonymous man captured a picture of what appears to be the Mothman. However, scientists mostly agree that the photo shows a type of bird carrying off an unlucky frog. Next up is the Bat Squatch, a creature that is said to be a Sasquatch mixed with a bat. Standing at a staggering 9 feet tall with blue fur, glowing eyes, and 50-foot wings, this creature is certainly an intimidating sight. The first sighting of the Bat Squatch was in 1980 around the Mount St. Helens volcano in Washington state. Witnesses claim to have seen an ominous figure flying in the Smoky Ashen sky during the eruption. Of course, no discussion of American cryptids would be complete without mentioning Bigfoot. This elusive creature is said to be an undiscovered species of its own, with individuals ranging from 6 to 10 feet tall and covered in dark brown or reddish fur. One notable encounter with Bigfoot occurred in Whitehall, New York in 1976, where three teenagers described spotting a roughly 7 to 8-foot tall creature in a nearby field. As the group watched, the creature suddenly began to scream and rushed at them. The video also covers the Jackalope, a jackrabbit or hare with antelope horns or deer antlers, and the Fresno Nightcrawler, a pair of white, two-legged beings with a circular head. These cryptids have been sighted in several states and are certainly intriguing creatures. I am always excited to learn more about these mysterious creatures. This video is a great introduction to some of the most famous American cryptids and is definitely worth a watch. Who knows, it may even inspire you to do some of your own research and sightings!
