In a recent episode of the Hey Human podcast, host Susan Ruth sat down with research historian and Sasquatch enthusiast, Greg Walter. Walter, who is also a US Coast Guard and Merchant Marine veteran, shared his personal encounter with what he believes to be a Bigfoot.
Growing up in Southern California, Walter had a strong connection to nature from a young age. He was influenced by his mother who took him on bird watching field trips and helped him care for various animals, including gopher tortoises and salamanders. Walter's love for the outdoors and his fascination with reptiles and amphibians led him to study geology and botany in college.
Walter's passion for the outdoors and his military background made him the perfect candidate for a career in the Coast Guard. He was stationed on the Oregon coast where he became involved in foraging and commercial mushroom picking. It was during this time that Walter had his encounter with a Sasquatch.
While on a hike in the San Gabriel mountains, Walter heard strange noises and felt like he was being watched. He turned around and saw a large, hairy creature standing in the distance. Walter describes the creature as having a "human-like" face and being at least 7 feet tall. He was in shock and didn't know what to do, but the creature eventually turned and walked away.
Walter's encounter with the Sasquatch has had a profound impact on his life. He has since become a Sasquatch enthusiast and has studied cryptids and folklore extensively. He is the author of "The Ridge Walkers when Legend becomes an encounter" and continues to share his knowledge and passion for the outdoors with others.
