Living in Appalachia, a region known for its dense forests and rural landscapes, can be a unique experience. One resident, Chloe, recently shared some of her encounters while living in Southwestern Ohio with the YouTube channel, The Wolf Who Cried Cryptid.
Chloe and her family moved from a small acreage to a 92-acre plot in the woods. They have two pygmy goats and three geese, which they keep in a Bruder in the garage until they are old enough to move to the barn. However, since moving the animals to the barn, they have noticed some strange behavior. Every night, like clockwork, at certain times, the geese squawk and freak out for about 30 seconds. Chloe notes that this happens at 11:50 PM, 1:30 AM, and 2:00 AM. She mentions that geese are tough animals and not much bothers them, but something is definitely concerning them every night.
Chloe has also had nightmares about something perched on her roof, looking in her windows, since she was young. She believes these nightmares may be connected to her experiences with crawlers. She has heard tapping at her windows and had things thrown at her screen, among other odd occurrences. Chloe also hears a grading metal sound, which she describes as sounding like running nails down a metal screen, but 30 times louder. She and her family initially thought it was a bobcat, but they have since learned that bobcats do not make sounds that could be confused with metal.
In addition to the strange sounds, Chloe has heard something walking just inside the tree line for hours on end. She describes the footsteps as being too heavy to be a deer and moving slowly, almost as if stalking prey. She and her family have not been able to catch a glimpse of whatever it is that they hear.
For about four months leading up to Chloe's email, they have had drones circling their property with no explanation. The drones only fly over their property and not their neighbors'. Chloe mentions that the drones are probably unrelated to anything else she has discussed, but she can't imagine what they could be doing there. She and her family have a running joke that they are keeping tabs on Sasquatch or something.
Chloe and her family have a general rule of thumb to not go in the woods at night, as they get the vibe that it's best left undisturbed. They live near a huge State Park and Ohio's only National Park, Wayne National Forest, so they are pretty deep in the woods where they live. Chloe notes that all the Tik Tok videos about Appalachia are pretty spot on when they say to not look too closely into the trees, as you can't quite be sure what you'd find if you did.
I find Chloe's experiences intriguing. The geese freaking out at specific times is bizarre, and I can't help but wonder what could be causing that behavior. The nightmares about being watched through her window and the tapping and throwing of objects at her window are similar to experiences that others have had with crawlers. The footsteps are also creepy, and while my first thought was Sasquatch, it could also be a dogman or another Cryptid. I would definitely keep a close eye on her dogs and be cautious if I were in her shoes. The drone situation is also strange, and I can't help but wonder what they could be monitoring.
Overall, Chloe's experiences are a reminder that we should always trust our instincts and be cautious, especially when living in areas known for Cryptid activity.
