A chilling tale of a Bigfoot attack has emerged from the woods of Washington state in 1924. Five miners, who had frequently visited the area near Ape Canyon at the base of Mount St. Helens, claimed to have been laid siege by a pack of monsters. This is their story.
The group of miners had faced strange encounters in the past, including the discovery of large human-like footprints and hearing strange whistling noises and deep pounding grunts coming from the woods. However, they had never seen the creature responsible for these occurrences, until one fateful night in July 1924.
Exhausted from a successful week of prospecting, the men retired to their cabin for the night. The cabin, built to withstand heavy snowfall and rock slides, had no windows and little furniture. As night fell, the men settled in for the night, deciding not to light a fire in hopes of not attracting any unwanted attention.
Around midnight, a large object smashed into the side of the cabin, breaking free the clay insulation between the log walls. Moonlight filled the cabin, revealing three towering creatures outside. The men, armed and terrified, fired blindly into the darkness, trying to hit something through the breaches in the walls. The creatures taunted them, allowing for pauses between each attack.
As the sun rose, the attacks stopped and the men were able to safely leave the cabin. Fred Beck, Maran Smith, and the other miners left behind anything they had in the cabin and made their way out, abandoning the cabin and their supplies.
Later, Fred Beck wrote a book about the incident, titled "I Fought the Apes of Mount St. Helens." In the book, he claimed that the creatures were related to the yeti of Nepal and could have been from another dimension. He also claimed to have seen ghosts in his life, which he referred to as Masters.
It is important to note that the only eyewitness account we have comes from Fred Beck. The other four men did not come forward publicly to refute or confirm his claims. Despite this, the story has sparked intrigue and many have set off into the woods searching for the elusive creatures.
