In another encounter, Braylon, a 65-year-old prospector, was camping in Matlock, Warburton Victoria during snow season. While in his tent, he heard movements outside. When he went to investigate, he was shocked to find a Yowie circling his campsite. Claudio, a 24-year-old woman, had a different experience with the Yowie. While camping with her mother at Phillip Island in the middle of the night, she needed to go to the bathroom. As she strode into the Bushland, she came face to face with a Yowie. Claudio describes the encounter as having a strange calming effect on her, unlike what she had been told as a child to be wary of this type of potentially dangerous creature.
