In a recent video from the YouTube channel Small Town Monsters, Alex Pacov, the director of the "Beyond the Trail" series, takes us behind the scenes of the show's investigations. The video, titled "Behind the Trail: Bigfoot Beyond the Trail," features clips from various episodes over the years, offering a unique look at what goes on behind the camera. Pacov starts with the "Granite State Bigfoot" episode from 2021, which was the first episode of "Beyond the Trail." In this episode, Pacov and his friend Josh investigate a case that Pacov had been working on for several years prior. They spend a cold winter night in the location, braving the frigid temperatures with plenty of gear to keep them warm. Pacov discusses the gear they brought along, including hand warmers, foot warmers, a first aid kit, fire starting supplies, and a camping stove. He also mentions self-protection measures, such as a 9mm with a flashlight and laser. Pacov notes that this was his first time filming himself for an episode, as he had previously focused on behind-the-scenes work. As they explore the area, Pacov and Josh come across some trees that appear to be mangled, which some believe could be evidence of Bigfoot activity. Pacov remains skeptical, however, and explains that he has seen few convincing tree structures over the years. In the next clip, Pacov moves on to the "Bigfoot Mountain" episode, also from 2021. He discusses how the show has evolved since its early days and how he tries to balance discussing the case and investigation with actual boots-on-the-ground exploration. I found this video fascinating. It offers a unique look at the work that goes into investigating Bigfoot sightings and the challenges that come with filming in the great outdoors. I encourage all Bigfoot enthusiasts to check out the full video on Small Town Monsters' YouTube channel.
