Bigfoot sightings and stories have been a part of many different cultures and communities for centuries. In a recent video from the YouTube channel Johnny Savage, we learn about the Ahtna people of Alaska and their own unique encounters and beliefs surrounding a Bigfoot-like creature they call the "Bush Indian."
Dr. John Smelzer, the host of the video, shares a story passed down from his great uncle, Joe Second Chief. In 1948, Joe was hunting moose and caribou near Old Man Lake when he heard strange noises outside his cabin. At first, he thought it might be a bear or a wolf, but the sounds were unlike anything he had heard before. The creature tried to rip open the door and roof of the cabin, leaving behind enormous, barefoot footprints near the creek. Joe was certain that what he had encountered was a Bigfoot.
The Ahtna people have long warned their children about the Bush Indians, telling them to stay close to home and not wander off alone, especially at night. The Bush Indians are said to be taller and hairier than humans, and they have been known to capture and use people as slaves or even eat them.
It's always fascinating to learn about the different ways that different cultures and communities have incorporated Bigfoot into their beliefs and stories. The Ahtna people's Bush Indians are just one more example of the many different names and descriptions that have been given to this elusive creature.
