Joe's first encounter took place in 2017 while he was working at a lodge in McCarthy, Alaska. He and a friend decided to take Joe's truck up to the toe of the Root Glacier. As they were driving, Joe suddenly got an intense ice cream headache and felt an overwhelming presence of a Sasquatch in his mind. Moments later, they spotted a dark brown creature moving behind a small hill. Driven by curiosity, they stopped the truck and decided to investigate.
