During their journey, they decided to visit a rare waterfall called Eddie Falls. It was here that the group would have a close encounter with something otherworldly. As the witness was collecting firewood, they heard a series of earth-shattering screams. The creature's roars were so intense that they caused the witness to involuntarily bark, a sound they had never made before or since. Unable to see the source of the sounds, they ran back to camp, where the rest of the group had also heard the terrifying noises. However, they would have another encounter when one of the adult advisers claimed to have seen a gorilla-like creature running in front of him. The witness estimated that the creature was around 9 feet tall, which aligns with many other Sasquatch sightings. The group decided to mitigate any further encounters by paddling through the night.
