In a recent video from the Squatch Talks Podcast, host Eric Spinner interviews Aleksandar Petakov, a researcher and member of the Small Town Monsters crew, about his work and upcoming productions. Petakov discusses his series "On the Trail," which features stories and encounters with various cryptids from across North America, as well as his new series "Strange Places," which explores unusual and paranormal locations. During the interview, Petakov shares some of his experiences and research on the origins of Bigfoot, including the creature's presence in various cultures and folklore throughout history. He mentions the European wood woes and Green Man, the Almas in Russia and Siberia, the yeti or Abominable Snowman in Asia, and the yahi in Australia. He also touches on the First Nations depictions of Sasquatch in North America, and the various interpretations and meanings of the creature within different tribes. One particularly interesting story Petakov shares is his visit to the Bellula Valley in British Columbia, where he met with the Nuxalk Nation and learned about their beliefs and experiences with the snic, a creature that fits many of the descriptions of Sasquatch. The Nuxalk Nation took Petakov to a site with 14,000 year old petroglyphs, which they believe tell the origin story of the snic and its connection to their existence. Overall, the video is a fascinating look into the world of cryptid research and the various cultural and historical depictions of Bigfoot. I am always excited to learn more about the creature and its place in different societies throughout history. The interview with Petakov provides valuable insights and information on these topics, and I highly recommend checking out the full video for those interested in Bigfoot and cryptozoology.
