Whitehall, New York: A Cryptozoology Hotspot
If you're a Bigfoot enthusiast, you've likely heard of Whitehall, New York, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Known as the "Bigfoot capital of the Northeast," Whitehall has a rich history of Sasquatch sightings and encounters, dating back to the 1800s. The town has even been the subject of documentaries, including Seth Breedlove's "Beast of Whitehall" and the Small Town Monsters' "On the Trail of Bigfoot: The Journey."
During a recent shoot for "On the Trail of Bigfoot," I had the opportunity to explore the area and speak with longtime researcher Steve Kulls, AKA: The Squatch Detective. Our flight took off just outside of Whitehall and took us over the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks, offering breathtaking views of the rugged terrain where Sasquatch sightings have been reported.
Whitehall is not only known for its Bigfoot sightings but also for its connection to the Lake Champlain monster, or Champ, as it's often called. The creature has been seen in the lake for hundreds of years, with dozens upon dozens of eyewitness stories and alleged evidence. In fact, I created a documentary mini-series called "On the Trail of Champ" in 2017, which broadly covered the Champ mystery across the lake.
Interestingly, Whitehall has a history of embracing its cryptozoology connections. The town hosts an annual Sasquatch-calling festival, attended by thousands of people and featuring a Sasquatch-calling contest where contestants line up to see who has the best Sasquatch call. The festival is a lighthearted, family-friendly event that I would easily recommend to those interested in the Sasquatch topic.
Overall, Whitehall, New York is a must-visit destination for any Bigfoot or cryptozoology enthusiast. The town's rich history and embrace of its cryptozoology connections make it a unique and fascinating place to explore. So, if you're looking for your next Bigfoot adventure, be sure to add Whitehall to your list!
